Don Julio Berdegué, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors, inaugurated El Cid on November 1972 with a country Club and nine-hole golf course in the city of Mazatlán. Over the years, the course has grown to 27 holes, nine of which were designed by Lee Trevino, a globally recognized golf personality. Several years later the Club welcomed tennis and racquetball courts, a lap pool, fitness center, steam, sauna, and spa facilities. As well as the Prime Grill restaurant, a Sushi Bar and Hole 19 members’ lounge.
Following the growth of the Country Club, El Cid developed El Cid Granada Hotel & Country Club in 1974, introducing the concept of All-Inclusive and European Plans.
El Cid Castilla Beach hotel opened in 1982, offering fabulous ocean views from private balconies, amenities and services that were aimed to satisfy guest needs, including a sprawling pool and popular Kids Club.
In line of development of the El Cid Group, El Cid El Moro Beach Hotel was inaugurated in 1989, a 28-floor tower overlooking Mazatlán’s beautiful ocean views.
Six years later, El Cid Marina Beach Hotel was built and strategically positioned on El Cid Marina and complemented by a professional marina operated by Aries Fleet. In 2001, our group expanded east toward the Mexican Caribbean, with the opening of El Cid La Ceiba Beach Hotel located in Cozumel.
In February 2006, El Cid opened its doors on the Riviera Maya, with Hotel Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort in Puerto Morelos as well as the El Cid Marina offering operating services through Aries Fleet.
In its diversification of markets, the Group operates a Division of Real Estate. It is based in the city of Mazatlán, México, developing the fractionation of El Cid through the trading company Real Estate.
Recently inaugurated in 2017, Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort joins the El Cid family of resorts, as the new generation offering exceptional service and singular attention to detail in a luxury setting promising the perfect vacation escape.
